CATV / Broadband Pedestal &
Housing Acquisition
On October 17, 2008, Charles Industries acquired Corning Cable Systems
LLC's (CCS) molded pedestal and housing product line
for CATV and telecommunications applications. The
acquisition of the Pedestal and Housing product line
enables Charles to broaden its outside plant product portfolio
with field proven pedestals and housings designed specifically for CATV/Broadband
applications.
Charles OSP Business Unit is focused to be the supplier of choice for
cable companies, multiple systems operators (MSO),
and private cable operators (PCO) with the addition
of CCS's established CATV pedestal and housing line.
The new CATV product portfolio supports the company's strategic initiative
to be the leader in OSP housing and environmental
protection solutions. Charles' OSP products support a
brand range of transport technologies including
copper, fiber, coax, hybrid-fiber coaxial and wireless. Charles
will capitalize on its 40 years of product development, design, manufacturing
and sales experience of OSP, network and local loop electronics
to further enhance and support network deployment of triple play (video,
data, voice) initiatives.
The new pedestals and housings are comprised of three series including
above-grade non-louvered vertical pedestals (NLVP), louvered vertical
pedestals (LVP) and louvered low-profile housings (LLPH).
