Primary Function:
The selected individual will be responsible for all business decisions associated with his/her product lines. He or she will synthesize customer requirements, specify and justify future development projects, determine pricing, and perform life-cycle management. 

Qualifications & Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.  An MBA is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have 6 - 10 years of related experience in the telecommunications field in a technical, system engineering or technical marketing capacity. Account Management experience is a plus. Demonstrated experience with communications companies such as Wireless Carriers, Communications OEMs and RBOCs. Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%.

Engineering Manager – Active Enclosures
Outside Plant Business Unit

Primary Function:
The manager is responsible for leading and managing the technical direction for our active enclosure solutions.  This includes providing technical guidance, project management, ensuring sound engineering process, effective use of facilities, managing technical aspects of active enclosure solutions supply chain partners.  He or she must also ensure that budget objectives are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plans and directs the work of the highly skilled engineering staff, placing particular emphasis on understanding customer requirements and developing valued solutions.

  2. Develops new products from the beginning concept to testing and full production.

  3. Organizes engineering staff to accomplish goals efficiently and authorizes recruitment of additional personnel as required.

  4. Monitors progress of projects, confers with project engineers, and reviews reports to see that development is progressing according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines.

  5. Provides overall Engineering leadership to help identify and cure weaknesses in engineering processes and systems.

  6. Reports to Sr. Director Active Enclosures on a regular basis.  Works closely with Product Management to establish long-range operating goals and expansion.

Qualifications & Requirements:
The requirements (experience, knowledge, education, skills, abilities, and physical demands) and work environment characteristics described are representative of what is necessary of the employee to perform this position satisfactorily.  Reasonable accomodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.  

  1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required; master's degree in engineering or business administration preferred.

  2. Twelve years of experience in increasingly complex supervisory positions.

  3. Experience with telecom service providers is required.

  4. Excellent verbal and written skills.

  5. Excellent technical, conceptual, and financial skills.

  6. Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals.

  7. Proficiency in ProE.

  8. Working knowledge of personal computers and software programs (such as Windows and Microsoft Office).

  9. The work environment is a normal office setting with minimal exposure to accident or health hazards.
